Healthy Butter Chicken Recipe

Butter chicken is one of the most loved chicken recipe that is healthy to eat. This dish has Indian origin but is famous and loved all over the world. So keeping in view the demand of butter chicken recipe today I thought of sharing this recipe with my viewers.

Ingredients

Chicken breasts………….. 2-3 (cubed)

Yogurt………………………… 1 cup

Lemon juice……………….. 1 ½  tsp

Tomato puree…………….. 1 tbsp

Paprika………………………… 1 tsp

Cardamom powder…….. ¼ tsp

Hot Spices Powder………. ¼ tsp

Garlic puree…………………. 1 tsp

Freshly grated ginger…… 1 large tsp

Onion …………………………..1 large (diced)

Vegetable oil………………. As req

Salt ……………………………….1 tsp

Fresh Ginger ………………..3 -4 inch piece (chopped)

Garlic cloves………………… 4-5 large (chopped)

Dried Fenugreek (methi)…………………… handful

Dried curry leaves……………………………… handful

Paprika……………………….. 1 tsp

Ground cloves……………. ¼ tsp

Chilli powder……………… ½ tsp

Green cardamoms…….. 8 -10

Cinnamon………………….. ¼ tsp

Sugar…………………………. 1 tsp

Sprinkle black paper

Sieved tomatoes…………. 1 cup

Evaporated milk or cream……………. ¼ cup

Procedure

Mix yogurt , hot spices powder, cardamom powder, tomato puree, lemon juice, garlic paste, grated ginger, 1 tsp paprika. Pure the yogurt mixture over the chicken and coat the chicken cubes. Cover and place in the fridge for a few hours to marinate. Place a large pan on a medium heat. Pour in some oil, add the onions and cook for 5 minutes. Cook until the onions soften. Add chopped garlic and chopped fresh ginger. Turn down the heat and cook for 2- 3 minutes. Add one and half cup of sieved tomatoes, add curry leaves, Fenugreek leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, cloves, sugar, paprika, chilli, salt and black pepper. Turn pan to the lowest heat setting, simmer on low for 8-10 minutes stirring frequently. Carefully pour the spiced tomato base into a blender and pulse into a paste. Cover and place in the fridge until you are ready to cook the chicken (few hours)

Once the chicken and tomato base has marinated for a few hours remove from the fridge and cook the butter chicken. Push the tomato base through a sieve. This is to remove any seeds that may remain in the sauce. Pour the tomato base into a small pan, heat gently on the lowest heat setting for 10 minutes. Do not boil or turn up the heat. Take a large pan or wok and heat on a medium/high setting. Add the butter to the pan and melt. Add the chicken and yogurt. Stir well and cook for 5-8 minutes. Add the warm tomato base to the butter chicken pan. Stir well. Simmer on low with a lid for 10 minutes or until chicken is cooked. Stir occasionally. Pour in the evaporated milk or cream, stir and cook on low for 1-2 minutes. Serve with bread.
