Delicious Shawarma Recipe

Shawarma is basically a Turkish origin snack which is made using a large rotating meat cone. But it can be prepared at home as well. The shawarma recipe which I am going to post today on the demand of my dear viewers is the fusion of Arabic and Pakistani spices. Do try this in order to induce taste in your taste buds. Here we go…


For Pita Filling

Chicken (with skin), take breast piece with thighs and drum sticks (boneless) 750 gm

Note: You can also make it with Beef or Mutton.

  • Pita bread (you can make at home or can use that available in the market)
  • Lattice leaves 4-5
  • Onion mixed with vinegar 4
  • Tomato 4
  • Cucumber 2
  • Somach ½ Tea Spoon
  • Vinegar ¼ cup
  • Lemon Juice 1 Tea Spoon
  • Grounded black pepper 1 Tea Spoon
  • Salt ½ Tea Spoon
  • Cardamom 2
  • Oil As Required

For Chilli Paste

  • Kashmiri Chilli 6
  • Cumin As Required

For Tahini Sauce

  • Sesame paste ½ cup
  • Garlic clove 2
  • Lemon juice ¼ cup
  • Salt As Required
  • Yoghurt 4 Table Spoon

For Pita Bread

  • Plain flour 2 ½ cup
  • Yeast 1 Tea Spoon
  • Salt ½ Tes Spoon
  • Lukewarm water
  • Oil


Chilli Paste

Immerse Kashmiri Chilli and Cumin seeds in water for sometime and  then grind in the grinder.

Tahini Sauce

Mix yoghurt in a bowl add salt, sesame paste and mix well. Add garlic and lemon juice and again mix well.

Pitta Filling

First of all mix all the spices in Chicken, handle it carefully so that the skin should remain in contact with meat, and marinate it for 2 hours. Then grill it until it turns golden brown. Now splice the chicken into small pieces. In another bowl mix all the vegetables and add the tahini sauce. Now put chili sauce on pitta bread, add filling and tahini sauce, then add olive oil and roll it. Your shawarma is ready to be served.
